MY STORY

My name is Sarah

I am a Clinical Nutritionist and Functional Medicine Practitioner

  • Step Mum
  • Beauty & Massage Therapist
  • Health Foodie... Smoothie Addict,
  • Nature, Beach and Sun Seeker

I have worked in the health and wellness industry for over 15 years. While my background is working as a beauty, skin and spa therapist, I have continued to grow my interest in health, wellness, natural therapies and how the body works, over the years.

After also having struggled with some of my own health issues, I went on to study Nutritional Medicine, where today I practice as a Clinical Nutritionist, educating others on the importance of looking at unravelling root causes of your health problems and food as medicine for overall good health

A Bit About My Health Struggles

My whole life I have always been of a smaller build and never had to worry about my weight. Although I have never eaten terrible, I never really ever had to worry about the food choices I was making because I didn’t put on weight.

Well, that’s what I thought, until I started suffering some of my own health issues over the years from stubborn acne, to terribly inflamed dermatitis, digestive issues for many years and more recently recognised hormonal imbalances, all of which are influenced by diet, which strongly influences the health of the gut. The food I was eating was affecting my gut and my poor gut health had a big part to play in my overall health.

The health of your gut influences the state of your overall health.

ALL DISEASE BEGINS IN THE GUT

I will help you restore your inner gut health

I took many avenues to try to address my health problems with very little to no improvement. After having developed an interest in holistic approaches to health, going on to study Nutritional Medicine, I have learnt that the knowledge I have now, I wish I knew back years ago when some of my health problems were at their worst.

Food is a very powerful tool that really is the foundation for achieving vibrant health. What you eat can affect you health in a positive way, yet it can also affect your health in a negative way.

While food is certainly the foundation to achieving overall good health, not just one but our physical, emotional and spiritual self must all be in alignment with one another. Good health is a combination of diet, exercise, sunshine, sleep, relaxation/reduction in stress and mindset. You can be eating well and exercising which is certainly the basis to achieving good health but without eating the right foods for you and without having the right mindset, you are going to struggle to fully achieve the health results that you desire.

Health must always be looked at as a whole person approach. This is why as a Clinical Nutritionist I use a functional medicine approach to unravelling your health issues. This usually starts with the gut.

Who Do I Help and Why I Do What I Do?

With an interest in Gut Health, Hormonal Imbalances, Weight Management, Anxiety, Stress/Burn Out Prevention, having become a step mum 6 years ago to an energetic 8 year old boy and having seen my sister and others close to me who are on the motherhood journey struggle with their health, today my sole interest is on helping mum’s get their health back on track.

While being a mum can be such as rewarding experience at times it can be really hard! As a mum, we have so much to do and it often feels like so little time, that sadly way to often we put our own health last.

While I love working with all kinds of digestive issues, gut health goes far beyond the gut. When our gut is not healthy, this relates to all kinds of health problems from hormonal imbalances, skin issues, struggling to maintain a healthy weight despite eating healthy, anxiety and mood disorders, fatigue, post natal depletion, fatigue and low energy, poor immunity and autoimmune conditions. While I mostly work with women, I love working with tired, stressed and busy mum’s to restore their inner gut health, regain energy, loose weight and reclaim their mama mojo so they can feel good and thrive in motherhood.

The anxiety, overwhelm, fatigue and exhaustion that we feel both physically and emotionally while trying to keep up with doing it all, school lunches, school drop-offs, school pickups, homework, cooking, cleaning, working a part-time job or trying to juggle a full time career, while also making time for your partner, family and friends and somewhere between all that, finding time for your own health and self care!

I know the struggle is real!!

With overwhelm, anxiety, fatigue and exhaustion comes poor eating habits or maybe even skipping meals completely.

This leads to hormonal imbalances and with hormonal imbalances comes comprised gut health and vice versa. Imbalances with the two of these, comes weight gain and/or inability to lose weight, bloating, constipation, IBS symptoms, headaches, mood disturbances, exacerbation of mental health problems, showing up signs of ageing well ahead of your age, bad skin, sleep disturbances, pms, low sex drive and nutrient deficiencies due to comprised absorption of nutrients from food- which if ignored can eventually lead to chronic disease.

Look after your gut and it will look after you!

The greatest gift you can give to your family and the world is a healthy you!
